The ring focused and amplified the Eddy currents that were produced by the electrical magnet. The can is not magnetic but conductive. The more conductive the metal the more it accepts the currents. Hince the faster it will spin. You can also amplify the electromagnetic or make much stronger and do the same. But the to together make a more powerful effect. Eddy currents make heat also.

and that eddy current actually puts up some torque ,rotating the can

Well the can is initially rotating due to eddy currents, which is kind of hard cause you have to overcome static friction. But when he places the extra loop, which eventually heats up of course, that creates a bigger magnetic field, so the eddy currents become larger and speed up the can. after removal that would slow the can, but since a small area is exposed to the pin, that slowing up takes a lot of time, and he applies another extra bigger B afterawards

@blower05 it is like having an iron core on a solanoid

I just wonder why the can would accelerate when the aluminum ring is placed on the pole?

@rivetgeek can you explain this more

@DUDENOFF hey i thought it was funny, but hey when your a little kid acting like a know it all (but dont know much of anything) you have to jump fast on to a statement that seems to be wrong, with an answer that would make you look smart(even tho its in the title of the video)then call that person a name, but the best part was his next post about "make sure its funny without making you stupid" about something that was so obviously a joke he came out sounding like the idiot, lol OMG LOL

@DUDENOFF when u make jokes, make sure it's funny without making you stupid.
where'd you find that 80's style pepsi can?

holy shit! as you threw the ring in the water was the most impressive moment! the eddy current produced together with the electric resistance of the metal some heat? that is the same as inductional heating isnt it?
