"The Menage,"is a poem by Carl Rakosi ("By the late 1920s, Rakosi was in correspondence with Ezra Pound, who prompted Louis Zukofsky to contact him. This led to Rakosi's inclusion in the Objectivist issue of Poetry and in the Objectivist Anthology. Rakosi himself had reservations about the Objectivist tag, feeling that the poets involved were too different from each other to form a group in any meaningful sense of the word. He did, however, especially admire the work of Charles Reznikoff"- Wikipedia)
The film is an interpretation of Rakosi's work. It was created by poet Anne Waldman and film artist Ed Bowes
in 2003.

  • Paul Zukofsky has a relationship??

  • He worked as a psychologist, a social worker, and as director of an organization who took care of Jewish children. A British student got interested in his work and Rakosi started writing again after many years. He published "The Old Poet's Tale" in 1999, being 96. He died in 2003. I have started translating some of his poems. I truly recommend his poetry. Rakosi is one of the greatest American poets, he must be read widely.

  • Rakosi, a poet born in 1903 in Berlin, raised in Hungary. Her parents separated and he left to the U.S. with his father, in 1910. He never saw his mother again, who was killed in Auschwitz. His first book was published in 1933.

  • Carl Rakosi, one of the Objectivist poets, that label which avoided being an "-ism". He was a great poet. He is a great poet. Thanks for posting.
