This is a short video on how to make your own yogourt. Making your own yogourt has many benefits: you save money, you cut down on plastic waste from all those containers you usually recycle or throw away after you finish your store-bought yogourt, and you have the satisfaction of knowing you made something on your own. You can also flavour it with whatever you want: jam, honey, syrups, nuts, raisins, chocolate, brown sugar, or whatever else suits your fancy. I hope you enjoy the video and actually try it yourself.

Ingredients:

2 L milk
3-5 tablespoons of yogourt
3-5 tablespoons of skim milk powder

Procedure
Boil milk
Cool it down to body temperature
Whisk in plain yogourt and skim milk powder
Place in a warm oven (lowest possible temperature) for 4 hours
Store yogourt in containers in the fridge
Enjoy!

***EDIT***
A friend of mine told me that he tried making it with some flavoured yogourt. He said it worked fine.

  • Dose it matter what kind of pot you boil the milk in because i boiled it in a non stick pot and after i put it in the oven for four hours it did not look like yogurt it looked like regular milk.

  • @TheRjsolis Did you add the yogourt and the skim milk also? I don't think it should matter what pot you boil the milk in.

  • If I want to add some flavour from some strawberries or banana when would I add this? Could I do it before it turns into yogert?

  • @1986ant1986 I'd add it after it's yogourt. Just add your fruit when it's done, and mix it in. I usually add homemade jam to it, and then give it a good stir.

  • dude u saved my life , where i am its really hard to find yogurt , im gonna have to clone that freaking 1/2 ltr yogurt to keep the reservoir , cheers hope i dnt burn the house :)

  • @ziaddoleh Good stuff!

  • Another recipe we are going to try, thanks!

  • Use the whole milk, & referigerate it at the right time once the yogurt is set, the whey will not separate...

  • Love it! You guys are so cute.

Next time get the camera lady to wave and say hello.

You could get her to do the taste test.

I'm trying this tomorrow, you have made it look sooo easy. Thanks so much.

  • Hey thanks for the video! Do you know what affects the taste? The milk or the yogurt starter?

  • No.............Thank YOU!!!............ VG.

  • I call skim milk "white water" LOL

  • What for to boil it and to cool it back??Can i just warm the milk to the neccesary temp?

  • Thank you for sharing and gave us in detail, Thanks to your wife by telling us have to boil the milk to kill any bad bacterias in it. When you wash up the utensils with some warm water, use it to mop your wooden floor or furniture as it will make the wood shine !! I'm not joking, try it and you will believe what I said.

  • Wow you made it look so easy .. am going to give your method a try :)

  • @riboflavinjoe yes I followed all the steps I hope I followed them correctly, before I add the yogurt and the dry milk do I need to bring the milk to a full boil .I checked on the yogurt 6 hours later and it seems like it wants to set I can see the whey on top but it looks more like spoiled milk than yogurt it dose not look firm at all. Iam still trying to fix it as I write this reply.
