Video from internal FedEx Memphis Hub Operations during the severe storms and tornadoes on Feb. 5th 2008 that shows how flight paths were modified in real-time to land as soon as possible and still avoid the storm.
@theevilmeister Please. The "art" aspect is little different from managing a busy print queue in a modern, networked business environment. There's some skill there, but it's not rocket science in the least.
@eddiecanis And by the way Steve, while they can steal your delivery, it's not like a "Finder's keepers" situation.. there are some pretty stiff consequences if caught.
@SteveSabbai Signature required is an option selected upon shipping, actually has a small fee assigned to it for UPS (can't remember, think it's like $2.50) but the majority of people probably aren't home during deliveries, working and all, so it makes sense to not req. sig.
@SteveSabbai use to ship a lot and unless you or the person shipping to you ask for them NOT to leave it on the door then they will drop and go. Ask for signature required. however the flip side to that is you would be going to the UPS/fex ex depot to pick stuff up.
...can someone tell me why the Fedex/UPS delivery drivers cant wait till i open the door BEFORE they drive away!? every time they drop off a box at my house they ring the doorbell then take off leaving my box on my doorstep! luckily most of the time someone is home but there have been a few times where there wasnt noone at home and i come home and see my box sitting by my front door for anyone to steal...is that company policy to leave customers items like that?
I work in da hub for those who dont know what them black dot are they are aircrafts. I was in one of the input when the 1am tornado came thru. I made sum money dat night. Lot ppl didnt show due to da tornadoes dat hit earlire dat day.
That is some busy ass operation, very outstanding to ATC. Can't wait to get certified as aircraft dispatcher :)

The reason these people get paid so much is ATC work is 50% science and 50% art. The Art part takes 10 years to learn, and a lifetime to master.
