This big female was crossing the road 15-20 m in front of our car when she noticed my head with the camera appeared out of the car window. Watch the elephant reaction!. My reaction was: "Should I back up, or just play dead??" After long ten seconds the elefant continued crossing, but still was watching us. The rest of herd with young elephants followed.

Was she the matriarch of the elephant herd? She seemed to be protective, guarded, and large enough to be one.
