Video Streaming to Laptop + Kryptoite Bike Lock

I just had my bike stolen, i`ve now got a cheaper bike and a more expensive lock!

Also, i`ve got a new method of making videos which includes real time encoding and no transfer from tape to pc. Anyone know how to go one better and upload video from a firewire cable connected mini-dv cam straight to the web?

Is that the fahgettaboutit? Is it able to lock the frame and rear wheel of ur bike?

@stunna2604 It can lock the frame to the rear wheel. Or, you can lock the rear wheel to most kinds of bike rack...this is actually pretty safe if done through the rear triangle of the frame as cutting a wheel + tyre is a bitch. Getting the frame and wheel to another object will work sometimes.

hey dude, ive noticed your video is quite old, how is the lock doing? I just bought one of those and was wondering.

@thiegolc i`ve always been happy with the lock, no one cut through it or even tried whilst i was in London...unfortunately i then moved to rural Wales and then scotland so the lock hasn't been tested for very long. I still reckon it's about the best compact lock that you can get, you can buy huge chains but realistically this lock in practical enough to carry without being a burden.

hah, dude. Exactly the same thing happened to me the other day! Parked outside Kew Gardens, quite a nice bike, 'armoured' cable lock that I thought was safeish ( had been using for about 4 years) and someone cropped it in broad daylight. Abus Steeloflex - don't use as a primary lock! Anyway. I might get one of these locks.

This method was promoted by Sheldon Brown, but in this rare case, he was wrong. Always lock through a frame tube (and the wheels if you must). I have the same u-lock though, it wont go through both the frame and wheel, so i fitted security skewers rather than quick releases. No more worry about wheels being stolen.

Thanks for the reply dude! Sorry about ur bike. I know what it feels like cas I had my road bike stolen. I recently got another one and I am trying to get to keep it in my possession, lol. I'm going to get the lock that u have cas I heard it's the best out there. I'm even thinking about getting an alarm. I'm tryin to do as much as I can to protect this new bike cas I think that if I had been more protective of the previous one I probably would still have it.

dont use just 1 lock use 3 locks 1 the lock you have a disk break alarm lock a long thick cable lock that locks the wheels and the frame.

he man in the states its called a u lock , but anyway is that the fahgettaboudit lock ? they are supposed to be 18mm but i dont know if they include the rubber in that mm, can you tell how thick the rubber is ?

Absolutely no offence intended, but using a cable on an unattended bike was like asking for it to be taken. I wouldn't use anything less than a D lock on a 3 minute sprint around the super market. Having said, you still didn't deserve to get it stolen. Maybe you came up from Richmond to Kew and got the wrong impression of the area. Go across the bridge and see what a shithole looks like!
