A short interview with Mark Fahey who discovered the Firedrake signal on satellite that is used to feed the signal to different transmitter sites in China. Firedrake is used to jam the broadcasts of BBC World Service, Voice Of America, Radio Free Asia, Vo.
This interview is from Radio|Media|TV in Asia. It aired on the Happy Station Show on PCJ -- http://www.pcjmedia.com. And was posted here through the permission of Keith Perron. http://www.radio4all.net/index.php/contributor/3101
The music being played is the studio quality version of the infamous Firedrake jammer used by the People's Republic of China to block unwanted signals that might reach the civilian population through radios with shortwave bands. Among the illegal broadcasts are the "poison" doctrines of the Falun Gong, Voice of America and other "anti" PRC broadcasts. The source of the Firedrake signal is said to be located in Hainan island, China.
The original track is 60 minutes long and plays on loop. Anyone with shortwave capable radios can hear Firedrake relatively with ease as it is found all over the sw bands blocking other sw signals.
