Part 5 of 6 for this series, clip 2 of 2 for this part. Waste antifreeze should never be dumped down sanitary sewers, storm drains or septic systems. Using recycled antifreeze save your shop money and conserves natural resources. Only about 12% of antifreeze is recycled in the U.S. To recycle antifreeze, contaminants must first be removed. Chemical additives are then added. Antifreeze can be recycled onsite, by a mobile recycling service vendor, or offsite at a regional recycling facility. ASTM standards for recycled antifreeze has addressed concerns over the use of recycled product.
