On August 30th 2009 my father retired from full-time ministry. I was asked to introduce him. Although this was done in spanish. I have pasted my notes here which I always do in english. I have added more in the actual presentation but there is enough here for you to know what I said. (Most of the jokes are missing)

How do you introduce someone that everyone knows?

I can find details of his life but after preaching TO YOU for 27 years (48 years ordained or 54 years since his 1st sermon) there is not much you dont know about him and probably our family.

I could tell you about his accomplishments but the scholastic ones are so few and you would either laugh or cry and his ministry ones are so many we would be here all night and the reality is that you have been a part of most of them.

The only thing I can tell you about my dad are the things he would never tell you.

The man you saw up here Sunday after Sunday was the same man we would see at home. If you think he loved you and cared for your needs because that was his job you are wrong. That is his life and he has loved each and everyone of you.

My father has done what ever it takes to reach people. Ever since I was born and before that there were people coming through the house. If he was not buying a mansion to rent out to hippies he was buying a ship to pick up marielitos. We once went to a funeral and came back with a brother, another time we cam home with an elderly man that lived with us for 9 years. In Christmas or Thanksgiving we would ask each other who is the mystery guest this year.

When driving with him and having a conversation you know that the gears are turning in his head and then he pulls over and tells you to jump out of the car and to pick up that sofa because it is very good 1 hour later he ask you a question about the conversation you thought you were having with yourself.

Why is he always thinking. That is his life and he has loved each and everyone of you.

Why does he do those things? If you think that it is because that was his job you are wrong. That is his life.

He is a leader that has said Come follow me and because He follows Christ we are here today.

His Vision for CP was a simple one lets win everyone for Christ NOT measurable, Realistic, specific But He was never taught about good vision crafting (He had what God had placed in his heart and Mind)

If EE could do it, LETS DO IT
free lunches, LETS DO IT
fiesta, LETS DO IT
childrens ministry, LETS DO IT
cellulas, LETS DO IT
Autumn Fest (Holy Wind) , LETS DO IT
Mission Trips, LETS DO IT
Camping, LETS DO IT
Food fight, LETS DO IT
English Ministry, LETS DO IT
Kendall property, LETS DO IT
Culter Ridge, LETS DO IT
Music Conservatory, LETS DO IT

Why would he allow us to try anything moral to reach people? Because that is his life and he loves the lost and wants to see them enter into a relationship with Christ.

My father is not perfect and some of you may have found that out.
I had to struggle with that when I was I felt called to CP.
Would I be able to work with my father? Not too many can and even few want to.

I chose to come to CP to enjoy these years working alongside my father to learn what I could from him.

He may have told you something at some point that you did not like and he may have said it in a way that no one should say it.
And I know you forgave him because you are here tonight

But there are two things you need to know (1) if he took the time to tell you and risked losing you; it was because he loved you (2) after he told you what he had to tell you, regardless of how upset he was, he held nothing against you and forgot.

And that is why there are so many people here tonight Because Dad we know that this is your life and have loved each and everyone of us here.

When growing up my father taught us all a song. My song was Solo No estoy Amy sang Bella Mansiones Danny sang Solo confio en El Senor David cant remember his song because he was tramatized after singing it at a funeral. But as a family we sang a song called Cántico celeste. This is the first time danny and I sing this song with words, we use to just hum it since we were too small.

I present to you MY DAD.
