pbs did a very good documentary on callas that ended with this footage interspersed with critics who describe it as disastrous and a description of her last years in solitude in paris. at the end of the clip the date of her death is transposed onto the frozen image of her anguished face as she sings "babbo pieta, pieta..." every time i see this performance i tear up.
