【O mio babbino caro 】
O mio babbino caro,
mi piace è bello, bello;
vo'andare in Porta Rossa
a comperar l'anello!
Sì, sì, ci voglio andare!
e se l'amassi indarno,
andrei sul Ponte Vecchio,
ma per buttarmi in Arno!
Mi struggo e mi tormento!
O Dio, vorrei morir!
Babbo, pietà, pietà!
Babbo, pietà, pietà!

[Oh dear daddy ]
Oh dear daddy
I love him, he is so handsome
I want to go to Porta Rossa
to buy the ring
Yes, yes, I want to go there
And if my love were in vain
I would go to Ponte Vecchio
and throw myself in the Arno
I fret and suffer torments
Oh God, I would rather die
Daddy, have pity, have pity

Gianni Schicchi / ジャンニ・スキッキ
[Gianni Schicchi is an opera in one act by Giacomo Puccini to an Italian libretto by Giovacchino Forzano, based on a story that is referred to in Dante's The Divine Comedy. Although the story by Dante is dramatic, Puccini's opera is actually a comedy. It is the third of the trio of operas known as Il trittico. Its first performance was at the Metropolitan Opera in 1918. The opera is best known for the soprano aria, "O mio babbino caro" (Oh, my dear papa), which has featured in a number of movies and other works.]

  • La Divina..... Maria Callas you are the best ! Superstar !

  • a quien no le guste esto esta completamente sordo

  • pbs did a very good documentary on callas that ended with this footage interspersed with critics who describe it as disastrous and a description of her last years in solitude in paris. at the end of the clip the date of her death is transposed onto the frozen image of her anguished face as she sings "babbo pieta, pieta..." every time i see this performance i tear up.

  • There is no greater sound than a hall full of queens welcoming one of their Goddesses.
