I just owned my Edifier S550 yesterday. My sound card is Asus Xonar D2X, the sound is great. Very clean and clarity sound. I don't like a music with huge bass because the whole music was disrupted by the bass. What I need is balance high, mid and low with clarity high, clean mid and deep low. That's why I choose Edifier S550.

@iCr4ZyOrOcHi The S550 just have better satelites, way better than the ones in the Z-5500. On the other hand, the amplifier and the SoundTouch controller on the Z-5500 are diamonds, especially the amp. The subwoofer seems to be a little better too. 2 radiators on the s550 and a port on the Z-5500 (a huge one) with level 6 bass reflex.
I've owned Z-2300 1,5 years now and I decided to buy Z-5500 too. I own Z-5500 a couple of days now. But I haven't listened to the s550. I can't judge precisely.

@jewzii1 I guess you got edifier..lol that z5500 is also good..it isnt that plastic I guess lol I got a logitech z4 and its also wood as far as I know..but mayb ethe z5500 not..anyway..the edifier 5.1 isnt available (I couldnt find it on the ethernet, so I think it isnt available in this country), except the 2.1 of edifier..
