Canon has been hard at work enhancing the wildly popular PowerShot SX210 IS. Meet the company's first ever GPS-enabled camera, the Canon PowerShot SX230 HS. HS you say? That's right, Canon stuffed one of their signature HS (High Sensitivity) CMOS sensors in the new SX230 HS for improved low light performance. The company also equipped the SX230 HS with the ability to record 1080p HD video, boosted the LCD pixel count, added a few image effects, and jacked the price up by 50 bucks. I just got it, among other things because of this review and have to say that I am more than satisfied with this camera. It's very easy to use and also packs a few neat functions like the full manual option for people who want to experiment with their shooting skills.

It looks cool, it is well designed and it delivers. Definitely worth a look.

@lucassenone In the HD video modes the maximum is 30 minutes, in SD the recording will stop after an hour. So to fill a big SD card you'll have to press the recoding button a few times.

But unless you want to do stuff like catching wildlife or generally are not always next to the camera this will hardly be an issue.

Good review. But misses a few things. Like the battery performance even without the gps. I own this camera - a few shots and zooms - you would last about a 80 photos and about 10 short videos. The deadly orange cell indicator pops up. Talking of popup, there is no way to stop the flash from popping up. I use my finger!

+ side - gives excellent pic quality, 14xzoom and almost does what a DSLR & a video camera does - in a pocketable size. Summary - good buy - but buy 2 extra batteries too.

@shawtynize You can zoom in video mode. Only in slow motion videos the zoom is deactivated.

And this camera is not waterproof. It has an underwater option, but you'll need a separate underwater casing for that.
