These orcas are from the Southern Resident orca population. The population is made up of 3 pods J, K and L pods. All together there is only 88 members due to lack of Chinook salmon and toxins in their blubber. They are called resident orcas because they really only live in the San Juan islands in Washington State, which is also where I live so I have had time to get to know and recognize them over the years. This video was taken 7/7/11 when J K and L pod joined up and formed a super pod.
