@ScientiaMathema isnt there in alll 11 or 12 by michio kaku?
-
@Draeka Time is nothing but an awareness construct applicable to the observer in their specific environment.

Not all dimensions are physical in nature.
-
we can't know***
-
time has dimension 1 and we are continuously moving along its axis
we know a specific configuration of our universe at a time we havent passed yet though
-
Carl Sagan is a boss

damn this guy high as shit!!...

Time is not a dimension. Time is a measure of a currently observed configuration of matter. Time has no dimension. Even if you were to say 'travel through time' you'd only still be observing matter in either an A. repeated configuration or B. A completely new and unpredicted one. If for say man possessed the technology to reconfigure matter and the path of energy he could recreate 1984. Not only across the planet but the entire universe. That would not be dimensional travel.
Why not just call the 4th dimension what it would seem to be an infinite number of continuously connected three dimensions. Hey that is what the time dimension does.

Because that is not even remotely close to the truth.

@ScientiaMathema What is not close to the truth? That curled six dimensions of space in string theory seem to me to be a cop out as they are based on the postulate that something that appears to be a point could be a ball if you could look at it close enough.

That would indeed happen.
And that is not where the dimensions come from; the number - a total of ten - is derived from the mathematics.

such a awesome way to explain dimensions

It's unfortunate that the fourth spatial dimension is folded to a Planck length and is thus very nearly unusable for travel without exceedingly large energies, energies far larger than humans will be able to utilize for one or two hundred more Terran years.
