As you know if you have read 'Update 2' below, there will be NO UPDATES to RuneScape or RuneScape's website for the next 2 weeks left of June. These 2 weeks are extremely important to Jagex because they let them get ready for the Graphics Update release in Early July!

02-June-2008 - Behind the Scenes - June

At the end of the month, there will be a break of a couple of weeks with no game updates. These two weeks are hugely important to us, as they allow us to prepare for the major graphical improvement in early July. It's one of the most complex releases we've ever attempted, so we need the extra time to get it ready and make sure the launch goes smoothly.

08-May-2008 - An Image of the Future

As you know, we currently offer 'High Detail' and 'Low Detail' modes. We plan on adding a new and optional detail mode, bringing you accelerated higher quality graphics. This will be in addition to the existing detail modes, as they will remain unchanged.

As if the improvements below weren't enough, an optional fullscreen version of RuneScape is due at the same time. This will let you play at a resolution of your choice, and it also supports widescreen monitors. We think you'll agree, the future of RuneScape is looking very good indeed....

NOTE - When producing games and updates, we aim to make them accessible to the maximum number of people. These graphical improvements are no different. We are continuing to gather specs from your computers (please see the 'Send Us Your Specs' newspost if you have not already), and we can already say that the majority of you will be able to play RuneScape with these improvements!


The Secret Was Revealed in newspost "Image of the Future" on May 8th, 2008.

what should i use to get good graphics on a runescape vid coz hypercam sucks and so does camstudio???

Well I use Hypercam 2, and it is pretty good quality for me. I use it on Sony Vegas, so when I zoom in it is good quality. I would have to say that Camstudio is pretty good too, but very time consuming.

err, its still a horrible game. I mean, there are 3000 other free mmos that are a ton better.

Runescape is only popular because people are like: OMG I HAVE TOO DOWNLOAD! NO WAI MAN! IM GOING BACK ONTO RUNESCAPE! THAT COULD GIVE ME A VIRUS!!!

(even though they already have a virus from looking up gay porn.)

mmkay maybe that top part was a bit harsh, but I dont care. RS is a terrible yet overly populated game.

@HIEDGNER Your comment doesn't make sense. It's not terrible. And no, there is no game better than any other game. You can say Lord of the Rings online is better than RuneScape, but I still like RuneScape better. It's not overly populated, people play the game because THEY enjoy it. If you don't like it fine, but that doesn't change other peoples opinions, nor do people have to have the same opinion as you.
