  • I have a bach bow and its fun though difficult. Its not a matter of how Bach intended it but how the musician wants to play it. The musician is not a servant of the composer but the primary creative entity. This is only an uncommon sentiment in classical music. Jimi Hendrix's Star Spangled Banner neither honored the composers intention or disrespected it. Putting the musician's intentions ahead of the composer's is the key to revitalizing classical music.

  • yeah that's all very well except the guy can't play to save his life anyway. you want this piece, listen to heifetz, and weep.

  • I wish I had one of these bows. The problem is, is that invariably every time there is a recording made using one of these bows, the conservative, staid classical establishment reviewer pans the recording. They can't accept this playing and sound as viable alternative to the traditional violin bow performance. Because of this fact, these bows are not commercially available. It's a sad state of affairs. Where are these bows available? Please let me know. It's a great sound.

  • At first the style caught me off guard because I've never heard this partita played like that before. But before the end, I got lost in it, so it's still an awesome interpretation to my ears. This violinist has a lot of character.

  • Yes, I agree. Obviously Bach did not compose for an instrument (or device) that wasn't yet invented. Yet Bach composed music which was frequently transcribed from one instrument to another, he revolutionized the tuning system, and wrote for modified instruments. It is hard to believe that Bach today would insist on early 18th century technology to make the best music.

  • It realy sounds like an armonica and the atempt to play like "Bach would like it to sound" is great.But I have many doubts about this bach bowing experience, in the sense that no one knows what bach realy wanted it to sound like.I think not even on his time with the bows from that time, this works would sound some how like this one.neverthless its an interesting experience but I prefer Szeryng interpretation with the comon bow strokes!
