Nice video. I was searching for a video like this one to show me how to disassemble my wife's XD Sub-compact, Seems very easy to do, I do this all the time to my Glocks. I noticed that the XD do have more parts than any of my Glocks and it's a little more complex to fully disassemble it, but it's not that big of a difference. Thanks for the videos.

If I do my regular cleaning after each time I go tot he range, how often would a full disassembly like this should be done?

my standard process is if I put 10 or less through it I just dry swab the barrel and dry brush off the insides of the slide and frame. 10-100 rounds I'll use Hoppe's 9 to clean the barrel out and inside of the slide and lightly oil. Over 100 rounds in a day of shooting and I'll take it all the way down like this. Then I'll use Simple Green to clean all parts and lightly oil with Break Free CLP.

Then when you go out enough to get over 100 rounds put through it, then take it all the way down.

Don't let it go 1000 rounds before a super good cleaning.

The Gunshop I purchased my XD from offers a Ultrasonic cleaning and lubricating service... would this be the same as a full disassembly clean?

Probably. Since I don't know the shop I can't say how far down they'll take the firearm before putting it in the cleaning tank. Ultrasonics are pretty good, but don't always get into the deep crevices. I used to work with them in the airline industry to clean all metal fuel and oil filters. They didn't always get out the little stuff. But then again a jet fuel filter isn't the same as a pistol.
