i'd imagine newcastle offered him a better deal, with a bit more room to fight. Also the fact we had payette on our team meant mel could play a little more hockey
(he then played 13 games, hit an 8 game suspension for sticking Hutchins in the face and left to go to America)
GREAT DRAW, this is one of the best fights i have ever seen.
Still its tough to watch fights like this sometimes, when they punched so hard at each others and it surely hurts guys heads.

Ya Mel was the shit i remember watching him play for the K wings in kalamazoo MI. He could beat some ass!
