Why did all Atari commercials say something like "_ is a video game cartriadge you have to buy seperateley for your Atari Video Computer System."? I mean, they're pretty much assuming that all kids are idiots who would have no idea that ypu're supposed to BUY games even when they know they're not included with the thing!!
I still run into the occasional person that thinks Wii = Wii Sports (as in they don't realize there's other games).
And this commercial is from the early 80s, when games were relatively foreign. And who says this is directed at kids? It seems like it's meant to inform parents.
In this era, or just prior to, there were a lot of single game video game systems that were just built in TV games like Pong, etc. instead of cartridge based.
