@pmb600 The 3.8 Coupe with the track pack can definitely give the e550 a run for it's money. do some research before posting ignorant comments like that.

@bg1379 So it's different JUST in America? Like some have ''V8" on the side panels that others don't. It's a bit of showboating, it's been the 500 everywhere else for years and years - "GRRR I'VE GOT A BIGGER ENGINE"
-
Its only 550 in North America- because with gas prices and much higher road taxes, etc, people in Europe prefer the idea of a smaller engine.
-
"then you'll try to slide the rear around but it won't let you" duh that's what the traction control is suposed to do turn the TCS off and you can easily slide these big benzos around
-
@bg1379 Was it never called the S500 or CL500 there ever? Cos 550 is only in the US,
-
Because, like I said, people expect their cars to be more efficient there- hence the whole CO2 : tax scheme in the UK - nothing even close to that is here in America. In Europe, having the perception of a motor with better power:displacement ratios is viewed as a much better thing than it would be here in America.
-
@bg1379 The German tax laws stipulate you have to "round it up" to the next size, so 6237cc = 6.3 (actually 6.2 yeah) They have to do that.
But the same car is the 550 in the US, why not call it the 500, like here?
-
It ABSOLUTELY is not because of egos that it is the 500. In Europe where gas prices are so much higher, those wishing to bump their engines up generally have very high egos. . .
And, for the record, MANY in America take badges off cars, too.
As a matter of fact, it is Mercedes, a GERMAN car maker, that lies about their engines being 6.3 liters. NO American car company does something that bold.
-
@bg1379 Well they're both the same 5.5 litre engine. It's been the 500 here for decades, although in the past it was a smaller engine. But in Europe the thinking is more modest. In Dublin, people with AMG cars or 600's nearly always have no badges on.
-
No, its because the "green" movement is much farther along in Europe than it is (generally speaking) in America.
I have an E550 and this makes me laugh, I can't believe these Hyundai people think that the Genesis is a competitor to this car. What a joke!

I dont know what kind of "crap" they sold to you in the US, but in europe people dont have much problems with E class. Actually its the most reliable car in class together with BMW5.
