Is this hard to build? and would it be possible to build if you have never built a pedal?

I wouldn't do it as a first build because it requires tight lead dress and that's usually something that's learned later. At least my first build was a rats nest with wires 3 times longer than they need to be. If you really want to build it go ahead, but take a look at as many gut shots as you can to figure out lead dress.
