The economic crisis has left an epidemic of foreclosures in Bushwick, especially in the southern part of the neighborhood, where many Hispanics live. Homeowners in the area have seen their homes prices sink 45% in the last two years. For many, hopes for the neighborhoods revitalization rest on President Barack Obamas promised intervention through the Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2, which seems tailored for a neighborhood like Bushwick. But its benefits are uncertain.
