I also had a '93 2 door Merc Topaz GLS with a 2.2 4 cyl and 5 speed. Fun car to drive great gas mileage but I had to bury it at 350,000K when the fuel and brake lines exploded. Yes, those 2.2's were bulletproof!

Not bad.
I've got a 2 door '92 Merc Topaz with a 5 speed 3.0 V6. Bought it as a beater and grocery getter. It's fun to drive and I was surprised to read it did a 15.9 quarter back in the day. It's pretty peppy when you get your foot in it.
15.2 is pretty respectable considering no major mods. That's in line with stock 5.0 LB9 late 80's camaro's.

To everybody that has tried to bad mouth the car, I want to laugh at you....its was a STOCK motor(only mod was a intake on the STOCK exhaust)with 160k that was running faster then the original road and track times. (my best was 15.2)
the other cars were all modifiied...except the mustang, but for the purchase price of each, I think I got him (my $500 dollar tempo for a $35,000 dollar New mustang GT)
I will also have another video up after this upcoming season is over.
