  • Also, take a shingle and cut the tabs off and use it as your starter strip, this will allow the sealant to seal the edge off the bottom course properly, and just like the rest of the roof it will have a harder time coming up from wind exposure. :)

  • 1" over hang is too much 1/2" or 3/4" is MAX overhang or else shingles will curl allowing water to come back closer to Facia. The hip cap was crooked...use a chalk line for that, or a guy with a good eye! Your installers are slow at nailing, hope your not paying them by the hour...their robbing you! (Not on purpose of course...just by being so slow!) Also it looked like the iceguard wouldn't go far enough under the flashing to be as good as it can be....watch for that.
