  • The term "Banho" means in this context giving people a object or money in exchange for a vote.

    Basically a student from OXford is conducting a study of the corruption during the free elections in the island.

    From a long term standpoint, with the "new" money from oil the fear is that the island nation will become another poor nation with a few very rich people, something like Angola today.
