Total Organic Carbon (starring Priyanca Sarkar & Lucy Cheng)

Total organic carbon (TOC) is a broad measure of the amount of organic material dissolved in water. TOC is the carbon specifically in organic compounds including sugars, vitamins, bacterial components and organic acids. Benzene and trichloroethylene can also appear as TOC. The presence of high TOC may not necessarily indicate a potential health problem in the water, but provides a broad measure of water quality. http://wsp.arizona.edu/
