10 year old samoyed nods off after a heavy session of pool play (mostly doing laps).
Note the relatively short fur as she is shaved off because she sinks when she swims with a full grown coat.
Watch for her tail to slowly droop and go down as she drifts off to sleep

  • I believe that a fear of water, of getting wet by a breed of dog that lives in an extremely cold climate is probably a very healthy reaction.

If a dog gets wet in -30C temp then it will most likely not survive

Williwa grew up in the desert area of British Columbia where summer temp is often 40 C plus so getting wet is a pleasant and enjoyable sensation.

  • i thought doing that, could make them more prone to sunburn, as thier coats are reflective of the sun.

  • actually we used to put on her a childs surf rash guard for uv protection but as we noticed that she does not get any sort of skin darkening from the sun so it seems ok

  • Hi.

I have had Samoyeds before and you wanna get her out of the water in a good time, cos if you don't she could get a cold (doggy style mind) and in old sammy's thats not such a good thing. But it sure looks like she's havin fun and kool video! I love em.

  • The pool's heated to 86 - 90 degrees. She does only go in when she's hot and wants to cool down - otherwise she runs along the pool deck from one side to the other chasing balls we throw in the water for her.

  • haha. Thats funny. Does her hair grow back fully? I didnt know you could shave Samoyeds

  • yup grows back just fine

  • Hi i was wondering where did you adopt Williwa? I am from Vancouver and I really want to adopt one from a breeder, do you have any information?

  • Is that really a pure Samoyed? His face doesn't look like a Sammy.

  • I remembered seeing this video awhile ago when you first posted it. My dog loves my pool too (same breed) and I've had some problems with her because she loves it so much. I've had problems where she doesn't dry entirely, even after using a hairdryer. She just got over a nasty skin infection as a result of it, and I had to shave off all of her fur about a month ago. It's finally just starting to come in... Beautiful dogs... just be careful!

  • @neva0say0die

Actually, there are a lot of uv rays in the arctic because of snow and ice reflection. would make sense if arctic dogs were more resistant to the sun than most dogs

  • lol wish i could do that , id sleep anywhere..

  • She looks so zen ^_^

  • You shouldn't shave your Samoyed's hair.

That's like pulling the insulation out of a house in summer to keep it cool while running the air conditioner.

Dog's lungs are their only air conditioner. They don't lose heat their their skin anyhow.

  • the dog will pee in the pool soon..
