CARONTE - Giuseppe Stampone with Julia Kent

The images are from the Julia Kent's perfomance/concert (7th of november, 2009) into the Giuseppe Stampone's Caronte installation, on the occasion of the exhibition No Longer Empty, Invisible Dog, at 51 Bergen Street, New York.

An elevator is a transition area, a contact point among worlds that Stampone tries to make us run into, meet or visit; the worlds of the death and life, in their manifold meanings: real, virtual, true, false meanings. The words written on the wall come from afar, from the histories of Dante, who made lost souls and allowed bodies pass by the Caronte's boat, today as well as yesterday. The Julia's statified sound shows the "allowed" corridors, making us slide among the phrases to conceive other visions.

Un ascensore è una zona di transito, un punto di contatto tra mondi che Stampone cerca di farci capitare, incontrare o visitare; quelli della morte e della vita, nelle sue molteplici accezioni: reali, virtuali, vere, false. Le parole scritte sul muro arrivano da lontano, dalle storie di Dante che faceva transitare con la barca di Caronte, oggi come ieri, anime disperse e corpi consentiti. I suoni stratificati di Julia mostrano i corridoi del concesso permettendoci di scivolare tra le frasi a concepire altre visioni.
