Every single day, we drivers are having to drive on roads in a state such as this and we don't see any of the so-called Fuel Duty or Road Tax put back into the roads. This is not only dangerous because it causes damage to vehicles (steering, suspension etc.) but drivers like myself want to avoid these damages and have to swerve to avoid these potholes. Sure, we can take "alternative" roads that may be a little clearer of potholes, but why should we inconvenience ourselves?
It is my aim to start a campaign or build on a current one and urge the government to actually put money back into the roads.
If you have had your vehicle damaged by potholes or the roads are similar to this around your area, share your story by posting below. I am also considering sending a Youtube video message to PM David Cameron asking him exactly what is being done about the roads (and any plans to cut fuel duty?) and help to ease the war on the motorist. However I have made a good start by messaging my local MP and I urge and implore you to do exactly the same.
NOTE: I apologise about the quality of the video, however, you can clearly see the impact the potholes are having on the car (and my back!) and the swerve at the end of this stretch (the car behind me does exactly the same). I will post pictures of this road in due course.
(Please don't take literal notice of the annotations either, they are just there for highlight how many potholes are there and it isn't accurate, there are countless numbers of potholes on this road!!!!)
To name and shame - This is one of Leeds City Council's roads, which they claim to have had "inspected".
Maybe you should get a bicycle - it would certainly make it easier to travel down the road and you'll save a lotof money by not having to pay road tax.

@idontpayroadtax True, but aren't they a big problem for cyclists too? I mean that's why cyclists can't travel too far to the left - Partly due to sunken iron manhole covers and grates. You could also probably loose a whole bicycle down some of these craters!

In my opinion gravel or mud roads are better than asphalt ones in such a bad condition the potholes in the asphalt can be so sharp they puncture tires and cause other damage to the car..

@sgnewa Thank you for your reply :) Yes I completely agree! I know you have many gravel roads in Iceland and surely the road fatality rate isn't any higher. They (councils) probably wouldn't do gravel roads here due to silly Health & Safety laws that have been introduced by the E.U. Now the councils have run out of money and can't afford to repair the roads and we have to pay road tax - Yes we must tax any vehicles on the road. Stupid!!

@X9Travels Hi, sorry for my late reply. I have reported it and I have had feedback from a recent meeting with the local MP and the council committee. It is quite funny - I have the data showing that they apparently "maintain" the road to schedule but the council want ME to tell them where this is. If they maintained the road like they should be doing, I wouldn't have to tell them!
