Requiem for Iceland's Rev. Kolbeinn, expert in Moravian history. Features seven traditional Moravian hymns plus an Icelandic folk-song. Two are from Hallgrimur's 1657 Passion-Hymns, the poet's Easter saga. Images by Kolbeinn and Dall of Greenland, Iceland, America and Czech accompany the piece. These are from a documentary about the 1700s Moravian creation of intentional communities around the world.
The Moravian church established by Cyril and Methodius about 800AD was inherited by Jan Hus and Bishop Comenius. Based on freedom, cooperation and equality, Moravians were home to Knights Templar and a haven for French "Black Madonna" refugees.
