Edgar Allan Poe died in 1849 in Baltimore. His death was given three lines in the local paper and his funeral only lasted a few moments and was attended by fewer than 10 people. Baltimore is rectifying that and on the 200th anniversary of his birth, they are giving him the funeral he never had. This is the procession taking his coffin from his house on Amity Street to the Westminster Burying Ground.

  • P8NT... Pretty sure that the coffin was empty. The guys in kilts slung it around pretty well.

  • I read that they put a life size wax doll in there.

  • I think that might have been for the viewing earlier this week. But it still may have been in the coffin!
