Brave New Foundation is partnering with Equality Across America in their culminating march taking place in Washington, D.C. on October 10-11, 2009 as a result of community organizing in 435 Congressional Districts toward the goal of full federal equality for all LGBT Americans.

"Silent Partners," is the dramatic story of the same-sex partners of three service members fighting the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Tragically, same-sex partners of service members fighting in these wars make the same sacrifices as heterosexual spouses but receive none of the benefits. And, instead of supporting their partners proudly and openly, these partners lives are shrouded in secrecy because of the consequence they face due to Dont Ask Dont Tell. Knowledge of their existence and their relationship can cause military officials to initiate an investigation that could result in the service members discharge from the service only because she or he is gay or bisexual.

"Silent Partners" is an episode from the documentary series IN THEIR BOOTS, a show about the impact the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are having on people in the U.S. To see the full episode, please visit www.intheirboots.com

Robert Greenwald and Richard Ray Perez are the series' executive producers.

  • Those who send others, to kill and die for the rights and equality they enjoy, while holding some of those rights as privilege unto themselves, have No*Moral ground upon which to deny any individual the freedoms they have sacrificed to defend.

  • The government has no business issuing marriage licenses!!! Why the heck should they be giving ANYONE the permission to marry. The original marriage licenses were given to permit interracial marriages. Get the government out of our lives...PERIOD!!!

  • You can change the fact that you're a bigot, but you still have the right to say bigitous things. He CAN'T change the fact that he's gay, but he has to keep it hidden and tucked away from everyone?

It's not that they want to go marching in the millitary shouting "HEY I'M GAY!" He just wants to be left alone if anyone finds out. If you have that kind of fear, tell me you're "free" then.

  • we got a brainwashed jesus lover here folks. wingnut alert on moonbat "juniemoon"

  • A very strong argument for removing the don't ask don't tell policy. It's uncivilized to deny equal and civil rights to fellow human beings. Especially, in this case where patriotic citizens are dedicating their lives to protect the freedom and liberty that is afforded everyone but themselves.
