Letiecq, NumbersUSA, & Stewart Teamed to Pressure Board Members, October '07

This is a redo of a video (now removed) looking back at events in Prince William County, VA in October 2007, leading up to the passage of the historic "Immigration Resolution" on October 16th, 2007 and the Virginia State Election on November 6th, 2007.

This video digs a bit deeper than the original video, invoking the name of Chairman Corey Stewart, who has publicly distanced himself from the primary subject of this video, Greg
Letiecq. Letiecq is the President of Help Save Manassas, the blogger/admin of Black Velvet Bruce Li, and the chief advocate of the Immigration Resolution, which Stewart supported.

The primary revelation in the first video was that Letiecq collaborated with a lobbying organization called Numbers USA to generate automated faxes and emails from a national list serve to lobby the Board of Supervisors prior to the October 16th vote.

The additional revelation in this video is that Chairman Corey Stewart and Greg Letiecq communicated on October 2nd in the hours before a critical vote was postponed UNTIL October 16th.

We decided to remove the old video because viewers could have mistakenly believed that Washington Post reporter Nick Miroff "tipped off" Letiecq that the Board was having second thoughts about funding the Resolution. This is completely false. We have since learned that Letiecq made this claim in order to disguise the fact that he and Stewart were working together to lobby the other 7 Board members with emails, faxes, and angry phone calls.

The truth is that Miroff was conducting a phone interview with Stewart. Miroff had no information that Supervisors Caddigan, Covington, May, Nohe, and Barg did not plan to support funding of the Resolution -- this was the false claim that Letiecq made in his "Help Save Manassas Alert" sent out to his email database. Miroff simply asked Stewart if he thought he had the 5 votes he would need to fund the resolution out of contingency funds set aside for emergencies. Stewart became very worried when asked whether he indeed had the votes. Minutes later, Letiecq's alert went out and the Board was bombarded with emails.

This "flashback" is relevant today because a similar storm is being created for the Board of Supervisors meeting on April 29th.

I have to apologize to Eric.

In the "Illegals, God and the Gospel" video, I thought that Eric
intentionally edited the footage to make Greg appear to be an
ignorant, arrogant [gratuitous profanity deleted].

But seeing this video, Greg goes on and on in what seems to be an
unedited diatribe. His hate and arrogance are apparent.

One objection would be that he and a few others have been USED by lobbyists with agendas that are not connected to those of us who live here. I won't go into why the agendas of groups like NumbersUSA and FAIR offend my sensibilities. And, lobbying firms are not against the law. BUT when lobbying firms flood our local governing bodies with faxes and emails from Arizona and California, and force legislation that destroys our economy and our community. It is a big deal. And a sad deal
