This is a gameplay of an Snes version of Thunder Force III from the Genesis. I don't know if this should be a speed-run but I did my best on trying to conquer the game without dying. Sorry that I can't show y'all the whole game on one video but I managed to divide the game into sections of stages.

  • I actually like the music in this version, maybe because I played it all the time as a wee lad...

  • lmao i can beat the first like 3 levels of this game WITH MY EYES CLOSED,.

nah but i rock at this game. The music was the reason tho. Even the sound effects. The sounds make you wanna dance.

  • @SonicXSTH Hold the select button down and press start.

  • love this game!!!!

  • @Pro21xx That's because CDs can have any recording they want to have. They're not limited to a sound chip, so of course they'll sound better than an SPC700 or YM2612. It's not really fair to compare CD redbook audio to any sound chip.

  • Guys, everyone knows that the sega version of this game was better, it's the same 30 comments on every video about how snes has a better sound chip and screwed up with this port. Point taken already.

  • @Pro21xx That's like comparing dreamcast to ps2. Two different time frames.

  • How do you bring up the menu?

  • @Christuserloeser Great SNES Music:

Gradius III, Axelay, Contra III, Sparkster, Super Metroid, Super R-Type, R-Type III, Super Valis IV, Super Castlevania IV, Super Turrican 1+2, Zelda LTTP, Star Fox, Chrono Trigger, Arcus Spirits, Secret of Mana, Kirby Super Star DX, Final Fantasy 5+6, Pop 'n Twinbee, Space Megaforce, Donky Kong Country 1+2+3, UN Squadron, Legend of the Mystical Ninja...

    among others.

Don't get me wrong though: the games you listed do sound fantastic.

  • @Christuserloeser I never said that the YM2612 doesn't sound "bad". Of course it can produce beautiful music, when programmed properly. I still think that the Lightening force and Valis I have some of the best VGMs of ANY game console, including the SNES. Then again, every console has standout soundtracks.

For music, I think it's just a matter of personal preference (although the SNES is more capable in terms of waveform capabilities) but for Sound effects, there is NO comparision: SNES.
