Fuck Doug Stanhope what an asshole, get off my lawn.

@Visioncliff For me, Hicks was my 'gateway drug' which lead me to the hard stuff...Stanhope. I don't like to compare anyone to anyone, but I will say that I think Hicks would have been a big Stanhope fan. For my money, Stanhope is the best I've ever seen.

@fissionmail3d But thank you for agreeing with the finer points. It's rare to find somebody talking about Bill Hicks on a Non-Hicks video that can actually take into account that maybe, just maybe, he doesn't deserve all the credit for everything. Kinda like people who scoff at Steve Vai and Buckethead on the grounds that Hendrix was first, and therefore must be better. Progression occurs long after the pioneers.

@fissionmail3d Not gonna argue that Hicks did it more of his life, that much is true. Hicks started when he was in his mid-teens (15, if I remember correctly) and he died at 32. Stanhope started in 1990, and is still going 21 years in.

@Visioncliff I agree with everything you're saying except the part about Stanhope having done standup longer than Hicks which isn't just a little bit false but actually very really much false.
-
@Nautilus1972 Did Stanhope say Hicks sucked? What a dick.
-
@Visioncliff Without Hicks there is no fucking Stanhope.
-
@ boosra - it's ironic of you to tell people to think for themselves when you're more or less just repeating the exact same thing Doug said in this video...

@SpraysHouseOfFun I agree
They are fucking not gods. They just aren't idiots.
Christ, this blind hero worship of comedians is embarrassing.
On top of everything else, it defines you as being the type of brain dead sheep dudes like stanhope and hicks rant about.
Think for your fucking selves for fucks sake.

Imagine all the years this guy's had to endure of being hailed as the 'Second Coming Of Bill Hicks' or a "Bill Hicks Ripoff". Stanhope's been doing standup longer than Hicks had and whenever someone's swamped by accolades of references to the same comic, it can make you lose your sense of identity.
Plus, he was drunk as shit when he said that.
Also, stop relating everything political/philosophical/dirty to Hicks. It does a shame to Bruce, Pryor, and Carlin.
