I review an interesting new folding linerlock by Boker. It features a ceramic blade and carbon fiber handles, and weighs in at only 2.1 ounces. It is slim and easy to carry. The price is surprisingly moderate ($60) for the materials used. Ceramic has been used in chef's knives, kitchen utility, and pairing knives for years, this knife would be a good piece if you're looking to try out a ceramic blade.

  • I'd say that for now, the type of ceramic we're using in knives isn't appropriate at all, it's way too brittle to be really useable outside of a Chef's personal kitchen..

  • @chibraxial - I agree it's not for tactical use, even though Boker advertises their ceramic folders now as "tactical folders" I think it is best used as a folding kitchen utility or super sharp but light work utility.

  • how practical is a ceramic blade for utility its seems like it would chip easily

  • @mrsjosie2024 - They've been used as utility blades in the kitchen for a long time, but I don't EDC any ceramics myself.

  • Nice review, thanks for that. Would you say that this knife can be used as a kitchen knife (to prepare food and stuff)? I know that there are other knifes for that but I just love how this one looks and I want to use it xD

  • @Acidx1337 Yes definitely, I actually have a Boker Ceramic 4 inch fixed blade that is a kitchen utility knife, I would consider this to be a smaller folding version of it. ~Israel

  • These knives are great if you take care of them. You can literary cut anything with them (wel anything lower then a 8). You can cut circles out of windows and shit....its pretty cool.

  • It's super, SUPER hard. And can get extremely, extremely sharp.

  • @MadBadVoodo how u do tht

  • Mirror finish is sooooo nice than the matte finish blade............but I like G-10 handle better than the carbon fiber handle, they are almost the same, but I still prefer G-10.

  • ★★★★★

  • I hope we see more of these ceramic knives outside of the kitchen market. For people like me who don't use their knives very hard, a decently priced ceramic-blade folder sounds great.
