Martin SP Lifespan strings are designed to repel the oils and dirt that can deaden strings. Treated to preserve the natural Martin SP sound and feel that players prefer.

We are very excited to announce that CF Martin has signed a licensing agreement with award winning Cleartone Strings. "We are honored that Martin has chosen Cleartone and its patented treatment as the basis for Martin's new Lifespan SP line" says Everly Music Company president Jason Everly. "Cleartone simply makes the best coating on the market," says Tim McNair, director of Martin Strings. The Cleartone patented treatment will be used for all strings in the Martin Lifespan SP line launching at the 2010 Summer NAMM show.
"It simply reinforces what we have said all along" says Joe Iacobellis Director of Sales and Marketing for Cleartone Strings. "You get better tone from thinner coatings. Guitarists want long life with a natural feel and sound. Cleartone is the thinnest, period."
Cleartones are the first brand to market a protective treatment for guitar and bass strings of less than one micron. Also the first to use this protective treatment on all six strings. Owned by Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers, Cleartone Strings are made in their own strings facility in Los Angeles, Ca. See www.martinguitar.com or go to www.cleartonestrings.com for details.

  • does this guitar cost more than 5000 euros?

  • @adologin Its about US$7000.00

  • Shall I needa fine tone the guitar first such as the truss rod adjustment before using this type of medium gauge strings?

  • @kingsonick if you are using lights and switching this to mediums then you might need to tighten the truss rod a little

  • hmmm I think I might try these... I've been using Elixir on my guitar... and well it's not as bright and chimy as before... they last long though... these might be a good alternative. They sound bright on the video... how do they compare with Elixirs?

  • @flammingcarrot they sound more natural yet woody and not as bright as the elixirs..

  • @sc12100 3rd I meant

  • @sc12100 Oh man I just broke a 4th.

  • @NevermindVzla I used to have a Fender California Series........and I traded it and bought a Taylor GS5 and I also now have a Larrivee L-09. The reason I am telling you this is that even with different string setups on your Fender, the sound quality will STILL not compare to an all solid wood body guitar. If you are worried about tone, you should probably upgrade from LAMINATE WOODS and move onto SOLID WOODS for better sound/tone quality. But if you know this already, disregard.

  • I have a Fender Sonoran that came with the Fender Dura-Tone strings... i've had it since december and I'm thinking to change the strings now to the Martin&co SP MSP7100. Should I ? does anyone know anything about Fender strings ? for me they stil sound the same but I think my ears are just used to it.

Also how long do this Martin last ? (and by default the fenders :P) I'm gonna change to martin because they were a gift but I've never tried this brand.

  • I personally think Cleartone beats them all. I used to think Elixurs were great until I picked up a set of 80/20 mediums from Cleartone. They put Elixurs to shame.

  • may i ask, what's the song u played start at 1:48? its awesome, and i wanna to learn it :P!

    thanks very much!
