Iannis Xenakis' "Terretektorh" from 1965/66 is a composition for 88 musicians spread throughout the audience. The work was realized by the Ensemble Modern and the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra during the "cresc… Biennale für Moderne Musik Frankfurt Rhein Main" on November 25–27, 2011 in Darmstadt.

Yes, but I think this music is unrecordable, it can be understood only being part of the audience, hearing to the sounds get close and far from you.

I first heard this years ago on an old vinyl record, but it had liner notes for days and I've never forgotten about it (even if I had to do a search for "Xenakis acme siren"...!) I wonder if he intended the acme siren sound ironically? Since everybody finds it at least a little funny even in these very serious proceedings. (Cut to: stern and/or smirking Germans.) But I especially like the audience member who picks up something a musician drops at 13:18.

Very strange indeed. Fascinating to watch such strange music in performance. To me, it sounds like some weird conversation amongst the instruments in a language which completely defies semantics. Many Thanks to the up loader for this experience!
