Adam Lambert Brigadoon, 2004 awesome

Adam Lambert gives a brilliant performance of "Come to Me, Bend to Me" from "Brigadoon." There's no video, but we include some older photos of Adam that you may not have seen.

The performance is from Houston's Theatre Under the Stars in 2004 - so Adam was about 22 years old. Thanks to Mary for sending us the MP3.

Adam has made it very clear that this is not the type of recording he wants to make - but it sure proves that he's the best singer of this year's American Idol contestants. The wonderful phrase at 3:23 lingers on and on, effortlessly...

"Brigadoon" is a musical with a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. It tells the story of a mysterious Scottish village that appears for only one day every hundred years, though to the villagers, the passing of each century seems no longer than one night. The enchantment is viewed by them as a blessing rather than a curse, for it saved the village from destruction. According to their covenant with God, no one from Brigadoon may ever leave, or the enchantment will be broken and the site and all its inhabitants will disappear into the mist forever. Two American tourists, lost in the Scottish Highlands, stumble upon the village just as a wedding is about to be celebrated, and their arrival has serious implications for the village's inhabitants.

  • If you're going to steal and re-post my video, you could at least give me a credit - and not cover up my website link with your advertisement.

  • Can't stop listening to this incredible rendition. Perfect vocalism above and beyond all reason, and sung with tenderness, musicality, and heartfelt expression. A true artist.

  • By far and away the best performance of that song I have EVER heard. Adam's voice is perfection in the way he controls it.

  • My God, this is so beautiful. What a voice from Heaven. Thanks Best Arts for this video.

  • This is so stunningly beautiful, spine tingling, tear jerking -LOVE it! Some other great pre-idol performances are "Is anybody listening" and a # of his upright cabaret performances! Post idol: check out "Mad World" at River Rock(fabulous vocal improv/jamming and stunning finish),"Aftermath" at Wilkes Barre, and "Broken Open" at Fantasy Springs. Just amazing talent-leaves me speechless.

  • Dear god... how lovely!

Please please release a collection of songs like this!!

  • One of my favorite musicals made better by having Adam sing one of the songs. I literally had tears in my eyes after hearing this. Kudos to whatever he does!

  • @Glambert28 WORD UP!!!!!!!!!

  • @csereix You are so right. When I first heard this, my eyes just filled with tears. He is one of a kind and I feel he can sing absolutely anything from rock to opera and who knows maybe even rap...although hearing this made me think he is made for opera or musicals. He can turn any ugly song into something outstanding!!!!I just love him and wish him all the best in the world

  • Astonishingly beautiful.

  • What a truly beautiful voice. Gives me chills. He can sing anything. Thanks for posting this.

  • adam, you don't need to seek attention, he is talented and an amazing singer. he will make it by using his vocal power itself and of course good marketing plus good handlers.
