Cloud says something "Soldier 1st Class"! ok what i found out is that those times when Zack would talk about his life, Cloud is actually listening, so when Zack dies and Cloud awakens, he takes up Zack's legacy and so he became a 1st. Oh and because Zack got 1st Class clothes for Cloud, Cloud thought he thought he was already a Soldier and he got that new persona of a distant person!

No but I mean the ending AFTER the credits, Cloud was on top of a train just like Zack in the beginning and then Cloud was like "Soldier 1st Class" then the video ended =P

That's because his memories got mixed with those of Zack. So, Zack stopped existing. And Cloud took Zack's place.
