I don't own anything, except for the subtitles! The Angry Video Game Nerd belongs to James Rolfe and Cinemassacre.com.

  • "Der Wütend Videospiel Schwachkorb" - oh - my - god!!! 1. "wütend" is an adjective which in german is inflected: It's "Der Wütende". And "Schwachkorb"? You intended to say "Schwachkopf" - schwach=weak - kopf=head. A "Korb" is a basket! But "Schwachkopf" ist no appropriate translation for "Nerd". You know how Germans call a "Nerd"?They call him "Nerd" BECAUSE there is no German word for that!. Go with "Der wütende Videospiel-Nerd - Castlevania II: Simons Quest" (that's the game's name in Germany)

  • @keepshowkeeper Again, thanks for the feedback.

  • @keepshowkeeper But still, one thing confuses me: if there is no German word for 'nerd', then why did you ask me why I didn't translate it?

  • "Die böse Videospiel Nerd"??? What the *** is that supposed to mean? "Die" means that the Nerd is a girl! And "angry" means "wütend", not "böse", which means "evil". And why not translate the word "Nerd"?? 3 out 4 words wrong, and that's only the title!! THIS IS HORRIBLE! I mean, what were they THINKING??!!

  • @keepshowkeeper Well, thanks for the feedback.

  • Google translate FTW!

    Oh... wait...

that is such worse german, it's even worser than the game......

(BTW don't want to offend you, but please translate in a language you understand)

  • @goodwilltubing Well, at least I tried. I mean seriously, I actually TRIED to make sure that it made sense.

  • @stammesbruder @Minervasux there are many ways to translate english words into german, that's 'cause there are way more synonyms for the same word in german. it also depends on how you use it. so nerd could mean: videospiel süchtiger (videogame addict), computer freak (same in english), (the most used translation for "nerd" because it's a mean word) idiot/trottel (idiot, dumbass, fool...) or just a person with a geeky appearence and 2 agile thumbs ;)

  • i don't know how long you have learned german already, but i would guess for about 1-3 years or so(?). and @Minervasux so wie meistens gibt es für ein englisches wort mehrere übersetzungen da man im deutschen wesentlich mehr begriffe benutzt. es kommt auch darauf an wie man es benutzt. so zB bedeutet nerd: videospiel süchtiger, computer freak, (die lieblingsübersetzung von den meisten) idiot/trottel oder auch ganz einfach jemand mit einem streberhaften äußeren mit 2 flinken daumen ;)

  • @Minervasux I'm confused. Didn't I answer that some days ago? Whatever. I asked you that cos I wanted you to think about it and to answer the question why you didn't translate "nerd". The correct answer would have been "Because there is no german word for it!". BTW: "AVGN" is a proper name of a main character which is usually not translated at all. U know, every German knows Spiderman. Noone calls him "Der Spinnen-Mann"!

  • I asked you that to make you think, like the ninja master in that avgn-episode! I hoped you'd find out about the meaning of the word 'nerd'. 'Nerd' does not mean 'idiot' or 'Schwachkopf''. 'Nerd' depicts a person who knows much about a certain thing but does not have many social skills. And the thing he knows much about is often of little importance 2 the community. Knowing that you should have been able to figure out that there is no german word that expresses this.
