Memorial Day Thunderstorm in Boone, NC

Memorial day started out as a beautiful sunny day. until around 1:00 o'clock in the after noon gray clouds covered the sky and out of no where along with the lightning, thunder, wind, and heavy rain came balls of ice, or hail.

Does Boon NC lose electricity often during bad weather or do they have a pretty modern power supply system with the latest safety features?

Here in Western Oregon our power lines have computers that will flip a switch such as if there is a voltage change and then have 3 free tries to turn it back on before the power is off for good forcing a worker to be woken up out of bed and flip the switch the hard way.

I read on a forum about snow days that Boone NC either last year or the year before had something like 20+ snow days which the person explained that the bus drivers are afraid of the twisty windy roads during snow.

wow, there was torrential rain in Boone. Imagine that...being up at 3200 feet in the mountains *yawn*

I do remember skipping class because it was raining so hard though.

i just got out of graduation practice that day... man it was like 2 meet deep in some parts of blowing rock road
