  • This is interesting but not unique to geeks.I play rugby and I know from myself and others that sometimes you play the superhero, or you might try and motivate each other with miracle scenario speeches against a team that's beating you.I'm just saying that psychologically every person on the planet needs an outlet for their creativity and an escape from boredom, some may be geeks, others are living in a fantasy of being an awesome sports star or racer or fighter. It's a univeral human nature

  • The reason why I became interested in this is because i actually came from a geek party a few hours ago. I was just wondering why they were so different. So I googled geek psychology and here this comes up. I'm also looking to find out more about their social ineptitude and their lack of sexual maturity. But yeah, I'll post ideas that were inspired by the is video and from my own originality once I get it together.

  • Very very interesting. When I'm not so sleepy I'll add to what you're saying.

  • Knights is spelled wrong....ugh that makes me a geek for noticing that.

I would of prefered it if you made the third psycological profile deeper. For instance, why does a socially inept individual want to go to space over being in world of warcraft.

Some of the outer circle people might not like Star Wars because they love that genre. I enjoyed your analysis though!

  • I like zombies... where does that fall? You're awesome, but also stupid. I don't want to get into an argument here though, it's the internet...

  • that was fucking brilliant.

man, you could do a thesis on that. I have to disagree with '2leftarms' regarding the superhero thing, superheroes maintain the status quo, even x-men, they're all about maintaining humanity the way it is..

  • I disagree with your superhero analysis. Comic books draw in people who are extremely disatisfied with the structure of the world. Spiderman, for instance, is a glorified teenager. He really has no say in the political and moral structure of the world, but he can put on a costume and enforce the law however he wants to. The X Men are at the bottom of society, but they're this sort of underground uprising against the social norm. Maybe "narccisist" is close, but "conformist" definately isn't.

  • who the fark is tht 'superqueer'? haha is he a serious superhero?

  • joe love to play the lower part of the charmin bear while sanj plays the top with his hair hairy hairy balls in joes face

  • Star Wars aside, I think you've touched on an interesting topic here. What I find most interesting are the hypotheses of the different types of 'geeks'; (i.e. extraordinary person in an ordinary world, ordinary person living in an extraordinary world) If this hasn't been researched yet, it probably should.
