Can I help you?

  • Reception~

  • thanks a lot!

  • Jimfee42, no confusion at all!

"How can I help you?" causally speaking, most situations.

"How may I help you? The most formal and polite manner, phone or banking reception, hotel, dinner.

I have made a huge mess on the table, trying to find the right size of this incredibly bargain party dress. A sales approached me with a not so pleasant, definitely bitchy looking, said to me "Can I help you?"

"Just stop what you are doing now!" is what she meant.

    Thanks for Siu'spronunciation comment!

  • Would "How may I help you?" better?

PS: no offense though, I do think you have a point there.

  • haha liaison is of paramount importance.
