Thank you jmminu, you are probably a fine surfer yourself. There are a lot of people who don't realize that surfing takes technique and not just fancy layback manuevers and recovory shit. Why does he have to recover in the first place, because he falls not being able to hold his rail.

wiserabbit you're one find observer of the sport of surfing.. these days the sport has been saturated with Kelly wanna be who think he's God.. Just because he's flashy and mediatised they think they cant be wrong. Yet you put Kelly at big sunset with a gun and you realise he cant do a turn. Remember that video of Kelly at Jaws with Laird towing behind him and toying with the waves while Kelly takes a safe straight line? That says it all: Big wuss of a surfer if you ask me or anyone who knows

Perhaps judges have started to favor Kelly a bit, but his surfing is anything but out of control... I mean, look a the guy, he looks as if he can do whatever he wants on the wave...

Contest judging is very subjective and they favor Kelly to promote the sport. Do you remember when he was Jimmy Slade in Baywatch? It's no different in real life. If you want to see real surfing check out somebody like Buzzy Kerbox or Brad Gerlach. Full on rail turns and not the out of control surfing kelly does!

i totally agree with u,
slater was doing good snaps and adrian was doin cutbacks 80% of the time,
but it is good seeing a young aussie win an event

i wonder what wed see if scores came from one top wave, instead of two...yet they dont. two waves covers the consistency and endurance factors...
