very interesting thanks

I bet Obama watches this one...lol
Fact: This or any wind mill design under a load does not turn at these RPM's.
Fact: Unless you live in a moderate to high wind area, any wind mill is not very efficient

i was thinking, could you use a turbine in a gutter system. i live in seattle and the amount of rain we get, could produce a substancial amount energy?

Actually, a better example of a a waterwheel that uses a design like this, would be this undershot waterwheel :

you can clearly see the wall behind the wheel. :)

Well, it wasn't really a question to begin with.
There's a company already building stuff like that commmercially, as seen in this video :

The alternative would be to put is vertically into the water, sorta like in this video at 1:52 , but into water instead of into air. In that case it's even easier to keep the electronics away from water, since you have an axle you can just stick above the water.
This is all old technology.

@Jesus45U since no one has answered your question that I saw, I am going to try.. I believe that you can use the fan as a water Wheel, but you need to protect the windings in your motor and the bearings too, or else it could seize up and not work anymore.. Also water is very ward on motors, moisture, humidity.. I would be interested if you came up with anything on that.. If you do please share.. Good luck to you!!

I was going to subscribe, but when I went to I realized I was already Subscribed.. XD I can't find enough running Capacitors to make the original Motor run for the Squirrel Cage fan from the furnace.. it was a working spare.. but I don't know how many I would need or how much MFD to use..

Cats always land on their feet. Toasts always land on the buttered side up. Strap a buttered toast to the back of a cat, drop them, and they should just be rotating in midair. Hook a generator up to that s**t and we're good.
