Last Pro-3 Race of 2008 Season - Pacific Raceways

Race was on 9/28/08. We had 24-26 cars and had a split start from the rest of Group 1. I qualified 5th with a 1:39.3XX, a few hundredths from 4th place. I made a big mistake on the third lap when my foot slipped off the brake pedal and I exited the track. I had a great time getting 5 positions that I lost back (including you Uncle Bill) and then had a great battle with Rick Edwards. I went from 5th to 11th, back to 5th with several laps left. Mid-race, a car put a lot of oil down from 3A-6. I had a lot of trouble putting power down in 3B and Rick took advantage of that. Great race!

Thanks. That was one of my favorites. Rick got me on the last lap of the race. I think I must have eased up a little as I had a big lead on him going into 3a. I really didn't think he wouldn't have closed the gap. He earned it with the pass though. Pretty amazing.

Ian, what is the video system that you are using?

I'm just using standard camcorders, one was mini-dv, the other recorded to SD card. Both are Canon in 16:9 mode. I used streamclip to convert the SD footage (mod files) into DV format. Then I imported both to Final Cut, synced the time with an exhaust note, used the audio from the rear as it had less wind noise and then reduced the size of the footage to get both to display and exported it a few different ways. This file is 400+ MB for the 30 minutes. Email me if you have more questions.

The duel you had with the 148 car...WOW! That pass through 5a & 5b was pure brass ones...you drove a solid race though.

One hell of a race Ian. Great drive through the field after the off in 3b. You and Rick had a great battle!
