love the transition boards they really make the boards realistic when combined.
you could even throw a couple of em on the end just to represent the grass being removed due to troops entering from that area.
looks excellent

Good stuff as always. But some cc as always as well, the hills your showing on here seem to have some rather sharp edges, so to speak. I think a little more sanding on the edges would have been smart.
Could be a trick of the light, but I dont think so.

No, your observations are correct. I have other hills that have smoother transitions but to keep the board costs down, I reduce the labor a bit. I could alter the hill to suit particular needs/tastes however on request. :)

Also the edge of the terminating river should probably be a little more jagged. A totally straight edge seems unrealistic to me, perhaps a fallen over arch, so to speak? The overhang would have less support in the middle so that would fall down easier thus making the edges stand more forward then the middle. I hope that makes sense, having a bit of trouble explaining here.

Your explanation is clear. I was actually thinking that when I was looking at it while I taping. One of the end goals of the river cap is to be able to place two butt to butt forming the look of a natural 'bridge' over the river. I think that shaded my construction to have a more 'flat' termination end. I will explore breaking up that look in future iterations. Glad I showed it early to get this kind of useful feedback.
