Granny's Poultry Violations May 09

Canadian Food Inspection Agency records indicate that more than 2 million poultry arrive at the slaughterhouse dead every year. This video shows why.

Birds that end up with the Granny's Poultry label often start with large patches of feathers missing, bloody rears and tails and caked in feces. These birds are chased and aggressively grabbed by untrained catchers, crammed into cages for transportation without the ability to stand, left fully exposed to extreme cold weather (-40C to -50C), and are live-hung, upside-down by their feet before being slaughtered.

The method of "stunning" - the electrified stun bath - has been shown to immobilize the birds but not render them unconscious. So many birds enter the scald bath alive that they defecate in the water spreading Salmonella bacteria. In one study, 75% of baths in poultry slaughterhouses tested contained Salmonella bacteria.

Government inspectors' record show that millions of birds are scalded to death or drown in the scald tank.

i actually work there, in blumenort, not joking! i dident know that they did this to birds, hell...i work in the tank room wiping condinsation off the walls and ceiling and floor, shityist job ever, this is wierd finding a video of where i work.....

To Theonejtb. Actually, the ones who are " bitching" as you put it , are probably not eating animals PERIOD, because unlike you, we are not naive enough to think that mistreatment isn't a regular occurrence. You need to open your eyes and stop deluding yourself .Even if the drivers are trained well as you put it, there are alot of horrors in the meat industry; from the factory farm, the transport and arrival to the slaughte rhouse. go to "meet your meat"

i find it funny the same people bitching about the loading are the same ones with the other hand in the kfc bucket.. shut up an quit bitching. if they were hurt as they were being loaded. the driver refuses to load the bird.

any birds that are bleeding or can not walk on there own. or any bird that looks unhealthy is turned away and not loaded. all the drivers have taken courses on the safe handleing an transportation of turkeys.

I worked at Granny's. This video isn't misrepresenting facts. People who say it is are not observant. The only claim that would make a person skeptical is "Turkeys weighing up to 60 lbs, hung by their feet." The birds were typically 30-40 lbs. I witnessed employees kick live turkeys. Some of the turkeys are dead before their throats are cut. Faeces is flying in the air...

I highly recommend that u wash & cook your poultry well! I have vastly reduced my meat consumption after working there!

Everyone who is believing this video must be a little slow, those birds were not dead, the one was lookin' around! it was raining there when they were transporting, but who know maybe it was a really really cold rain? *sighs* this video is pure bull, this coming from someone who has worked in a Granny's poultry, as well as on a turkey farm,and they do tarp up or board up when the weather is not good, PURE BULL CRAP WHOEVER BELIEVES THIS
