i have a 86 trans am totally swapped. it had the 305 2 barral carb, but then the previous owner put in a built 307 from a chevelle with a built t-5 trans with the borg warner rear diff. hits hard into 2nd but i want to put a 383 or 350 in it(hard to find a decent built carb engine for cheeper prices nowadays)....right now its got a full 3 inch flowmasters strait pipe all the way back want to run the the 1/4 mile this year...what do you guys think it will do????

@kwc16 FYI...the "light" or "tree" has nothing to do with your ET. The ET clock does not start running until the car starts moving. Even if you started 2 seconds late, your ET would be the same. The tree just makes sure the race is fair. Obviously, if both cars run the same ET, then the difference at the finish line would be due to the reaction time. It's possible to get to the finish line first and have a slower ET than the other guy - due to reaction times.

Umm my 87 came stock with 2.77 gears.....Borg Werner Diff, made in australia. Changed it to a series 3 to be able to use 3.70 gears, no not 3.73, they didnt make them for that Diff. So no, there was and is more than just 3.42 gearing out there STOCK.

@kwc16 my trans am has 2.73's stock havent ran the quarter yet but its also not stock i believe your numbers are slightly off the lb9 came with 190hp from factory and if it was a t-5 it had 215hp so i would guess the stock 1/4 times would be 15.7 and if you know what your doing with right traction and conditions 15.3. i say that because i have seen those times from one. and my tpi eats up carbed camaros so dont be hating on the tpi's.

how did you get your trans am to run 15.4? is it a manual? i only got mine to run 16 flat. and the guy said you ran 15.7 so you lie

And you tried to bull shit , your buddy says 15.78 , why would u Make up shit on youtube when theres alot of car guys on here , check my video out with my 87 FIREBIRD 305 HO 180hp it has Exhaust system thats all , and it would eat your little dinky TPI up since i have 40 more hp than yours , and i Spun a bearing at the truck , you know the Piston rod bearing that connects to a Crank shaft . lol I love ripping on Fake guys on Youtube , and if you knew anything theres no such 2.42 gear in GM ,

I call bullshit on the times , i have owned 83-90 Camaro's and firebirds both 305 and 350's , And if its stock Trans Am With 305 TPI and i know for fact it comes stock with 3.42 gears not 3.73's they only came stock with 305HO carbed "FIrebirds" not trans Am and it only has 150hp Fastest it could run with a perfect .500 light would be 16.3 , My 87 Firebird 305 HO with Real 3.73 Grears and i had Flowmasters 40's fastest was 15.0 HO is 180hp

In the quarter and thats because i put better gear
